Myofascial & Trigger Point: A integrated modality for the relief and control of myofascial pain and dysfunction. The goal is to deactivate trigger points (commonly known as “knots”) in the muscle – that may cause local pain or referred pain and other sensations in other parts of the body, reducing the swelling and stiffness, increasing range of motion and flexibility, relieve tension and improve circulation. We apply systematic manual pressure point compression, myomassage, passive stretching to relieve myofascial pain.
There are over 600 potential known and mapped trigger points and referral pain zones in the body, although there can be more! Trigger Points are the main cause of pain in 85% of people going to pain clinics. Trigger points can also mimic other conditions such as migraine and tension headache, carpal tunnel, tennis elbow, TMJ, arthritis, bursitis, toothache, heart pain, and general unexplained chronic pain. Most of the time this will be incorporated into a session, but can be a stand alone treatment as well.
